Yes, that is the code. See below - I do not understand whether a K 350 can have either A or K or A/K stamped as there is no explanation on the site. However, my '81 K has a 'K' on the crankcase.

For as far as I know all older 350's have an A, whether it's an older engine or the later one with the plain crank bearing, only difference can be the S on the other side below the front cilinder. Never saw an S on the left side though. C is for Excaliburs and X for Kanguro's. R and W for 500's, R also for 501 Camels and again a C if it is a 501 Excalibur.
Re: Anyone recognise this?? New to Morini.
I’ll keep looking for other letters dotted about the machine. I think this is around a1980 build as it has quite a ‘high’ frame number for a K, but around a 1000 off the last K’s as far as I can interpret.
Here’s a bit of comedy tho, I’m making a new instrument bracket to suit the revcounter that came with it. Not happy yet with it but after a couple of goes, I’ll get it next time. A bit more ribbing. I’ve ordered a white face GPS speedo same diameter (£50 odd) to deal with the lack of speedo drive etc.

Re: Anyone recognise this?? New to Morini.
rev-counter looks like the real deal, is that the flat one? Btw Excalibur clocks fit nicely into old rubbers
Re: Anyone recognise this?? New to Morini.
No idea what you mean by a ‘flat’ one. The rev counter is just what came with it, so did a couple of knackered instrument rubbers in a crappy home made steel frame. It’s cheap but time consuming for me to CAD a frame up & print a nice one to suit it better. I don’t like spending money, esp on this project.
By the way, I found an S mark near the front pot. Guess it was at least once a sport 350??

I meant the old style revcounter which is about 1-2 cm in height, much sought after for classic racers. An S below the front cilinder is indeed a Sport
Re: Anyone recognise this?? New to Morini.
I’ll have to come back to the tacho later. All I know it is a mechanical one.
Meanwhile I’ve come up with this for the rear brake issue. Not ideal or pretty but hey-ho. I’ll have to make up the cable to suit but that’s something I’ll do across the bike at some point. At least I machined the trunnion up out of some gash stainless I had hanging around so it’s not all sh*te.

Well this might add up to some of you : I’ve found out this bike has a 400 dart top end with an L5. (?) cam. The project is coming on. Brakes are sorted. On with making up nice cables for it. Bit of trial & error.

Sounds good! In general those camshafts have an L stamped in them
Re: Anyone recognise this?? New to Morini.
So it’s a 400. Thought I’d have a go at making a 400 badge based on the 500’s & see where we’d go. The side panels I got with it have holes drilled for a 3 1/2 badge (which I’ve a pair of) but 400 alone leaves one hole visible & obviously unused. That’s why I put the Morini bit underneath, to hide the hole.
This is just a ‘master’ & won’t paint so I’ll take an impression of it & cast it in urethane which feels like an original material even if it isn’t. Next is the throttle cable set up on the Amals. I didn’t like the top-in run through the top cap kinking the cable so I’ve cast a pair of blanks & fitted the blue angled guides. I couldn’t see one that was made especially for Amal MK2s off the shelf. I’ve now made new cables to suit & it works a treat. No notchy pull & smooth return. Drops to a full close & it can reach full bore. I should be able to start it now.

I’m having a go at making a nice rubber clutch actuation arm cover and specific 29mm to 24mm inlet stubs for the big Amal carbs, that are properly flowed. They’re an ‘iterative’ process to achieve but I consider them do-able, though the stubs as a casting are going to be very tricky.

Re: Anyone recognise this?? New to Morini.
Hi redplate, your bike looks like it’s coming on well, can I ask where you bought your gps speedo from please ? also does it fit in the original rubber mounts ? I might go this route on mine as it reads in km and no rev counter pick up on coils, & don’t know if it works anyway so might remove it
Thanks barney
