Good Morning,
I am wondering if anybody has any info on wiring in th tacho on a 1976 3 1/2 Strada with grey transducers with no wire for the tacho, (as it’s there I would like it working if possible).
My Dad bought the bike in 1995 and in 96 replaced the pick up both transducers and a so called widget, (I have had the bike running after some fettling (faulty plug cap so caps and leads, carbs strip & ultrasonic clean + new gaskets and a cam belt)
I have seen that the tacho has not been connected this is a pic of the so called widget doesn’t look much for £28.35 in 1996, does this look right ? these were all purchased from NLM
Thanks barney
Tacho wiring
Re: Tacho wiring
That looks to be the diode used to isolate the transducers from any 12v floating about. If it cost £28 it was a rip off. It also has nothing to do with the tacho.
I could be mistaken, but it’s a bit ”spaghetti bolognese”.

Re: Tacho wiring
Ok Thanks for that, it does look like a child has done it, so one end is plugged into the front transducer where should the other side of it go ? at the minute it is disconnected.
Do you know what the widget should look like ? I have a receipt for it but I don’t see it on the bike,
Thanks barney

Re: Tacho wiring
I don’t have a Morini any longer so can’t go and look, but I don’t recall it going to a transducer. I did have an electronic tacho with an external converter - that was a smaii circuit with several semiconductors on it.

Re: Tacho wiring
If that is the green wire then it is the wire from the magneto coil. The component will be a diode to prevent 12 volts from damaging the transducers. Earlier bikes did not have the diode, on my later K it is in the wiring under the side panel.barney 66 wrote: ↑09 Jul 2024 04:32 Good Morning,

Doesn't resolve your tacho problem.
