Castrol CM

Post by Tim »

The blue book says apply castrol cm grease to the plastic washer behind the clutch basket - I can’t find it or an equivalent. Can anyone suggest an alternative?

Hi Tim,
A squirt of chain grease if you feel the need? Personally I leave it ungreased as it is plastic and have never had any issues with doing that. The thrust washer seems to last forever in practice.
Might have been different if you still had the brass thrust washer though. (Has anyone still got that fitted?)
Regards,
George

thanks George -in the end decided to use a thin smear of graphite grease - seems to withstand temperature and pressure and doesn't eat nylon as far as I'm aware
we'll see...
