500 Left side main bearing

The saga continues, can anyone recommend a supplier of a left hand side main bearing please?

I think my 501 has a modified main bearing. I have receipts for this but am currently many miles from home so cannot confirm. The original has an ID of 33 mm which is rare or extinct in the wild.
If you can get that one so much the better.
Otherwise and if I understand the situation options are
Get a replacement 33mmid bearing.
Get a modification to accept a 30mm ID bearing.
Get a bearing as above then get the vintage bearing co to modify it.

Well, at least it’s ordered!

Wellll, I’ve got a new left side main bearing from MDina Italia which apparently is a modern replacement for the original. After having the new bearing pressed into the crankcases the next problem has arisen. The crankshaft, which I believe should just ‘slip in’ doesn’t. A few gentle taps don’t help! Help, any suggestions?

What is the OD of the crank journal
What is the ID of the bearing
I suspect there is a 3mm difference

I will be getting them measured at an engineering place in the next day or so ( I don’t have the tools for this) but a rough measurement wth a vernier gauge indicates a difference of about .25 of a mm.

OK- what are the numbers on your new bearing?
Accirding to my invoices mine looks to have been modified to accept a readily available size bearing, if/when it sees daylight I will know.
It says 240111Mod on the receipt in my file.

Some linishing on the crank by a local(to me) engineering shop solved my problem. Bottom end is now all together again.

Despite quality SKF etc bearings of the same size being readily available from any bearing-factor (but NLM's Stuart Mayhew telling me he couldnt find any) NLM used to sell their 500 Main bearing/regrind conversion with a cheap Chinese bearing that wouldn't last 5 minutes. Worth finding out the maker....
