re chroming
Hi - thought i might use some of the cold winter weather to get a few parts rechromed - exhaust shield , headlight lens holder and wondered if anyone could recommend anyone as i haven't a clue where to start. I suppose local would be better ( Cumbria) but will probably have to post them anyway. I also need to know what level of preparations parts need before they go as they both have a fair bit of surface corrosion - is this done in the process or would they need a great deal of work before they go - thanks - Duncan

Re: re chroming
Hi Duncan,
I got some parts rechromed last winter: exhaust shield, wheel rims and kickstart. They were done by Classics and Chrome in Hinckley and came up really well. I didn't do any prior preparation: the kickstart looked like it had been lying at the bottom of a swamp and the exhaust shield had no plating left and surface rust. They all came back looking like new. Postage costs for smaller parts like you mention shouldn't be too much.
Regards

Re: re chroming
I'm sure there has been a company in Carlisle advertising & offering chroming services. Might be worth having a look on google and bike mags.
