I haven't posted any updates in a while, so here is one of the many components just completed...
I had been advise that these bikes need a fork brace at very high speed,,, so now it has one,,, along with a mudguard to keep the salt spray down a bit...

And that is not a fork brace but a steering damper. Otherwise, it looks very smart!

Re: Fork Brace and Mudguard for the Morini LSR
Two different things,,, the fork brace is the heavy bracket that the front mudguard is attached too.....A fork brace keeps the fork legs from "flexing out side-to-side" in the middle which can impart a serious instability into the front wheel,,,, which the steering damper would then have to deal with.....Best to stop bad thing from happening in the first place than have to deal with them when they appear....
Re: Fork Brace and Mudguard for the Morini LSR
Sorry, but your 'fork brace' is more of a tuning fork; it will have little capability to hold the forks parallel because it is bent into a curve. Effective fork braces are massive straight fixings, rigid (but adjustable for initial installation) that generally fit above the mudguard and clamp around or to the very tops of the sliders. They are rarely necessary except for bikes with single front discs, where heavy braking may twist the forks.smotorboy wrote:Two different things,,, the fork brace is the heavy bracket that the front mudguard is attached too.....A fork brace keeps the fork legs from "flexing out side-to-side" in the middle which can impart a serious instability into the front wheel,,,, which the steering damper would then have to deal with.....Best to stop bad thing from happening in the first place than have to deal with them when they appear....
We don't want you having a high-speed accident just because you've not quite got it right!
Good luck with the LSR work.

Keep me straight Nick,,, I'm needing all the help I can get to stay safe......
Yes, the little "U" bracket is no match for a proper billet type brace, but it does have a little positive benefit. I have a 450 Honda that has the same fender & bracket, and when I took them off to go for the total "Cafe" look, that darn bike would shake its head over rough spots...I put that fender & bracket right back on
Some of the bike guys in my club run TWO steering dampers at El Mirage,,, I'm looking into everything...
